Marshalls International has been built by people who have dedicated their careers to the ice rink industry. From the founders who established the business over 40 years ago to the experienced professionals leading it today, every member of our team has helped shape the reputation, knowledge and customer relationships that define Marshalls International.
Our team combines decades of hands-on experience across rink operations, equipment supply, engineering, project management and customer support. Together, we continue to build on the values established by those before us, providing trusted advice, specialist expertise and dependable service to ice rink operators throughout the UK and around the world.

Lindsay Marshall Founder & Director
Lindsay Marshall is a founder of Marshalls International and has spent more than 40 years helping to build the company into one of the leading suppliers to the ice rink industry.
Coming from a family business with roots dating back to 1921, Lindsay has a lifelong appreciation for the importance of customer relationships, quality service, and long-term business values. Since selling the company’s first ice resurfacer in 1983, he has played a key role in the growth and development of the business, building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry partners across the UK and around the world.
His extensive industry knowledge, commitment to customer service, and practical approach have helped Marshalls International earn its reputation for quality, reliability, and expertise.
Although not involved in the day-to-day running of the business, Lindsay continues to support the company through his wealth of experience, industry insight, and passion for the ice rink sector. His guidance and commitment to the values on which Marshalls International was founded remain an important part of the business today.
Phil Waite Founder & Former Managing Director (retired)
Phil Waite is the founder of Marshalls International Limited and played a pivotal role in establishing the company as a leading supplier of ice rink equipment, ice maintenance solutions, and specialist services to the ice sports and leisure industry. As Managing Director for more than 25 years, Phil combined a deep understanding of the sector with a commitment to customer service, helping build Marshalls International’s reputation across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
Under Phil’s leadership, the company expanded its product portfolio, developed strong partnerships with world-leading manufacturers, and became a trusted partner for ice rinks, hockey clubs, and leisure operators. His vision and entrepreneurial spirit helped shape the business from its foundation into the internationally recognised organisation it is today.
Although Phil retired from his role as Managing Director in 2021, his legacy remains embedded in the company’s values of expertise, integrity, and long-term customer relationships. The strong foundations he established continue to guide Marshalls International as it supports the ice industry worldwide.
Mark also led high-profile projects such as the NHL season opener at The O2 Arena in London, acting as Project Manager.
Today, as Managing Director of Marshalls International, Mark leverages his extensive operational, technical, and strategic expertise to drive the company forward, supporting ice rink operators across the UK and beyond.
Mark Johnson Managing Director & Shareholder
Mark Johnson brings decades of hands-on experience and leadership within the ice rink and ice sports industry. His career began at Billingham Forum Ice Rink while still at school, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to the sector.
A former professional ice hockey player, Mark played for teams including the Peterborough Pirates/Titans and Blackburn Hawks. Alongside his playing career, he pursued a college course in Leisure Management, gaining practical experience at Peterborough Ice Rink.
Transitioning into management, Mark held key operational roles such as Maintenance Manager and Duty Manager at Blackburn Ice Arena. His technical expertise was further demonstrated on the global stage as an Olympia Ice Machine Operator at the World Figure Skating Championships.
Mark continued to build his reputation at Manchester Arena as Events Floor Coordinator and Assistant Head Ice Technician, before moving into senior leadership roles with Planet Ice. There, he progressed from General Manager at Milton Keynes to overseeing operations as Group General Manager across seven ice rinks.
As Managing Director and Shareholder of The Ice Rink Company/Silverblades, Mark played a pivotal role in the development, acquisition, and operation of multiple facilities across the UK, including:
Ian Williams – Service Engineer & Technical Specialist
Ian Williams joined Marshalls International in 2016 as an Olympia Factory Trainer for both the Millennium and IceBear ice resurfacer ranges. Since then, he has developed extensive expertise in the servicing, maintenance, and technical support of electric ice resurfacers, working on machines at prestigious venues and facilities including Chambery, Dammarie-les-Lys, and Alexandra Palace.
Ian brings a wealth of engineering knowledge and technical qualifications to his role. He is a Volkswagen Accredited Master Vehicle Technician and holds professional membership grades MIMI and MAE. His specialist training also includes Bosch certification in Engine Management Systems, L-Jetronic and K-Jetronic fuel injection systems, and engine sensors and actuators.
Further qualifications include City & Guilds 381 Parts 1, 2, and 3 in Motor Vehicle Craft Studies, alongside a UEI qualification in Motor Vehicle Studies. His extensive technical background, combined with hands-on experience in ice resurfacing equipment, makes him a valuable resource for customers requiring expert service, maintenance, and operational support.

Dawn Saville – Office Administration Manager
Dawn Saville joined Marshalls International in June 2019 and is an integral part of the company’s day-to-day operations. As Office Administration Manager, her role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities that help ensure the business runs smoothly and efficiently.
Dawn’s duties include administration, finance, sales support, purchasing, and coordinating the dispatch of customer orders. She also plays a key role in maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers through regular communication via email and telephone, ensuring a high level of service and support at all times.
With her versatile skill set, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction, Dawn is responsible for the daily running of the office and provides essential support across multiple areas of the business. Her dedication and organisational skills contribute significantly to the continued success of Marshalls International.
